Good to hear you bought the new processor, sutherland. Is it as fast as you were expecting?

Be sure to check your temperatures this time to avoid hardware damage.

I don't know why you'd want to adjust the multiplier to 30x but as it's unlocked you can adjust it as necessary. I've heard of people running it at 3.9GHz by upping the core voltage to 1.5v and setting the multiplier to 19.5x. Be careful you don't push it too far and increment it slowly. Every CPU is different and there are no guarantees it will be stable.

Generally speaking, if overclocking you should invest in a better CPU cooler as the stock fan is only meant to support the stock speed. Check the temps and decide for yourself though.

You should play around with the lowest multiplier to see how far your motherboard allow the Base Clock (FSB) to be overclocked. Generally, FSB overclock offer more performance increase, and i personally wouldn't mind running at lower multiplier but at higher FSB clock

On the AMD platform though it's far harder to do that way I believe.

Easiest to just up the multiplier.

I'm not familiar with your motherboard but from a review it looks like you can adjust the CPU's voltage in the MB Intelligent Tweaker (M.I.T.) part of your BIOS. Be careful you don't set it too high and if you go back to stock settings change the voltage back.

If you have any heat issues I would sort those out first before you end up with another dead motherboard.

Overclock the CPU normally before you adjust the voltages. Find out how far it will go (stable) on the stock volts. Then, turn up the voltage a little bit & see if you can turn the frequency up even higher while still remaining stable.

Basically, the CPU will overclock quite a bit on the default/stock voltages; but once it gets high enough, it needs more voltage applied before it will run faster without becoming unstable. Pretty simple concept.

Remember, the chip will get real hot, real quick once you start increasing voltages; and too high of a voltage will permanently damage the chip no matter how cool you keep it. You should search (google) for other people's results in overclocking the same processor if you want to find a reasonable overclock goal, and figure out what voltages other people have applied to it without damaging it.
