Default cooling help

Hi guys I have a Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 and it came with a cooling fan and heatsink I was about to buy this one and I just wanted to know if it will give me a little more cooling than the one I have. Now my cpu is around the 64 deg mark.

I'd highly suggest getting the Coolermaster Hyper 212 Plus (price matched to this) instead. That is of course assuming that a 120mm heatsink will fit in your case.

However that OCZ should perform better than the stock Intel one.

I have this and it's great. You will definitely see an improvement over the stock cooling. My quad core went from 45C idle 65C load to 27-30C idle and 45C load.

Anything other than stock cooling is an improvement.

Nova, thank your lucky stars you don't have the push-pins. I still have issues when I fondled around in my case and if i just slightly nudge the Xigmatek it comes loose. dam Push-pins.

Ok, back to our regularly scheduled thread.

I don't see anything wrong with that one, especially for the price.

Though for $4 (or $9 if we count the MIR) more you can have the Hyper 212 Plus, which will definitely outperform it. And it doesn't mount using push-pins either. Comes with a solid backplate and screw mounting system, though you'd have to pull your motherboard to install it.

Well the push-pins used on the Intel stock coolers are fine, they work fairly easily. However aftermarket heatsink push-pins are terrible. I don't know why, but they just don't click-in easily or hold well. Especially with bigger/heavier coolers.
